Christmas Tree Farms in New Jersey

Visit a Christmas tree farm and buy a live tree grown in New Jersey can be a memorable day party for the entire family? The process can be anywhere from one hour to much of the day, depending on what you and your family to benefit from the experience.

These considerations will help you select the species, height, shape and density. Among the many Christmas tree species grown in New Jersey, the best options for the retention of the needle are all the pines; Austrian, Scotch, White and Mexico Border. Douglas Fir, Concolor and Fraser fir are also excellent. The Colorado blue spruce is very good, and that of Norway spruce whites are fair.

It is difficult to measure the height of the trees in the field. Check with the Christmas tree farm, they usually have measuring sticks available. Although you can not cut your tree exactly even with the ground and you have to cut a little beyond the bottom of your tree when you get home, your stand is added around four-inch piece and four inches above the final height of your tree. Therefore, it is recommended that you choose a tree that is somewhat shorter than the height of its roof.

A tree freshly cut, brought home before putting it inside decoration, should be placed in a container with water in a cool shaded area, sheltered from the wind. If kept outside, make sure the water does not freeze. Before submitting indoors, cut an inch from the back end. This cut fresh from the tree to absorb water. Place the tree in a medium which may contain one to two gallons of water. As fresh-cut trees absorb a pint to a quart of water each day, check the water level at least once a day and keep the water level above the cut end. Always keep the top of the tree in water. If you have been out water for more than a few hours, the sap will seal the cut trunk and do not absorb water. Keeping a tree stand filled with water and prevent needle drop prolong the freshness of the trees and the color.

Select a location in your home that is not too near a fireplace, heat ducts or radiators. Place tree in tree stand with plastic mesh. This makes it easy to move and stretch tree. Netting can be removed once the tree established.

The tree will take a couple of hours to return to its natural shape once the network is eliminated. Fill the base with water. In the initial charge, warm or hot water is beneficial.

If you select a ball and burlap (GUD) Christmas tree, several days prior to being brought indoors, it is necessary to be placed in an unheated, protected box (utility building, garage, carport, basement) or on the northeast side of the house. This conditioning process adjusts the tree to the effects of rapid temperature and humidity changes that occur in the interior.
