cooling system cleaning?

I have a 98 oldsmobile intrigue and improve planning in the cooling system cleaning. I want to put in one of those plastic tubing "T" that you can attach a Garden Hose, flush the system. I know its supposed to be put in a hose going to the core the heater. which flows into the core I think, how would you say that one of the heater core coolant hoses is flowing into the heater core?

It should be just below the radiator cap on the passenger side. It will be at the top of the course and will be approximately one third the size of the radiator hose.
